Passionate about “anti -gumism” will be able to take a time trip from the 1970s until the beginning of the 2000s. With the launch of the Vintage Chevrolet initiative, it will restore and update classic vehicles such as Monza 500 EF 1990, Opala CD, Opala SS 1979, S10 Rally 2004 and Kadett GSI 1992, later taken to auction.
In all there will be ten vehicles auctioned in person and virtual. The first one occurs in 2025 and will be opened with two models. GM says part of the amount collected will be intended for social projects at Instituto General Motors.
On the restoration side, the idea is to preserve the characteristics of the original versions, while the update occurs through the so -called Restmod, a process that combines the classic design of vehicles with current technologies.

The initiative, says GM, in which projects are chancelled by the vehicle manufacturer itself, as already happens in the United States and Europe. The projects are defined by a specialized committee of the company from historical research and can even have professionals who participated in the original development.
According to the company, each project took at least one year until the conclusion – Kadett is still in the final stages – and is executed by a partner accompanied by GM engineering.

The automaker takes advantage of its historical collection, which includes manuals, finish samples, technical database and images to ensure greater loyalty in restoration. An example: even the zinc tone applied to metal pieces, such as bolts and hood rod, is analyzed according to the specific characteristics of the original version.
“Chevrolet classics have marked generations and helped write the history of the national automotive industry, as well as being stored in the affective memory of millions of Brazilians,” said GM South America President Santiago Chamorro, in a presentation at Cruz Alta in Indaiatuba (SP).
The vehicles underwent laboratory validation tests in the test field to ensure compliance with specifications defined in projects and consistent with the operating parameters of an old car.

“Rescuing and turning these models into real unique collection pieces, with all the rigor and dedication of our engineering, is a way of honoring this legacy and at the same time offering something special to passionate consumers and great anti -sports enthusiasts,” said the executive.
