After disturbing the more traditional fans of the proposals of new running formats, reduced proof time, increased sprints and inverted grids,, the CEO of the main category of placing the presence of traditional calendar circuits.

In an interview with the Italian podcast Passa Dal Bsmt, the leader sent a message to the organizers of the most classic Formula 1 tracks and charged strong investments to continue to host World Cup stages. “It is clear that today we are talking about investment levels very different from those of the past,” he said. “Since I took over, today we are in a situation where one door has closed and another has opened. The competition has changed, the context is much more aggressive and, obviously … only affection is not enough.”

According to the Italian executive, the new fans of the category do not care about the difference between and. “If a big prize has this historical value, it is a positive point, but it is not enough,” said Domenicali. “It’s an important element for someone like me, who has been with Formula 1 since childhood. But for many young fans today, running in, compared to the new Las Vegas circuit, it makes no difference. Therefore, the story is not a fundamental element for us.”

Thus, according to Domenicali, only the circuits that modernize to offer more and more emotion on the tracks and comfort in the stands will continue on the calendar, as there is no forecast of expansion in the number of tests per season.

“It may seem strange, but we have this data because it is fundamental to us. The story should be sustained by a structure that looks for the future, which allows investment in infrastructure to improve, as tickets are not exactly cheap, which provides fans services at all levels and allows countries to be financially present in a calendar that, in my opinion, will not grow beyond the number (races) we have today.”

Domenicali’s interview reveals the new posture of Liberty Media, an American group that has controlled Formula 1 since 2017. In his first interview as F1 CEO, Chase Carey showed concern to ensure historical circuits such as Silverstone, Monaco, Hockenheim and Nürburgring on the calendar. “You still need to maintain these traditions to have F1 values,” he said at the time.

Hockenheim and Nürburgring, traditional GP DA circuits, have already left the Formula 1 calendar. Other historical scenarios such as Zandvoort, the Holland GP stage, and spa-francorchamps, which receives the GP DA, will gradually leave the category-the first says goodbye in 2026, while the second will host evidence in alternated years.
