O Itamaraty published a note on Saturday (4), commenting on the peace plan announced by the Gaza. The statement was issued after the proposal, in part, on Friday (3).
In the document, the Brazilian government reaffirmed its position on the creation of two states and said it “carefully follows” the situation.
See the full note:
The Brazilian government carefully follows the discussions that followed the announcement, by the US government, on 9/29, a new plan to cease gaza, whose population remains plagued two years, for deaths, forced displacements, hunger and destruction of homes and vital infrastructure.
By recognizing the efforts of mediating countries to end conflict, Brazil is expected that, if accepted and implemented by the parties, the plan will result, among other measures, in the immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, in the release of remaining hostages, at the urgent entry of humanitarian aid and at the beginning of territory reconstruction, under Palestine’s appropriation and supervision. It defends, moreover, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces of Gaza and the restoration of the political-geographical unit of Palestine.
In this context, Brazil reaffirms the conviction that the only way to just, stable and lasting peace in the Middle East involves implementing the two -state solution, with an independent and viable Palestine state, living side by side with Israel, in peace and safety, within the 1967 borders, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Finally, it considers that any international stabilization force to be unfolded in the region must have a carefully designed and duly approved mandate by the United Nations Security Council.
