The Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a note at dawn on Saturday, 4, commenting on the plan announced by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to cease fire in the Gaza Strip.
The Brazilian government states that “carefully follows” discussions about the American proposal and reaffirms conviction that the region will only reach peace with the implementation of two states: “With a state of independent and viable Palestine, living side by side with Israel, in peace and security.”
“By recognizing the efforts of mediating countries to end conflict, Brazil is expected that, if accepted and implemented by the parties, the plan will result, among other measures, in the immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, in the release of remaining hostages, at the unimpeded entrance of humanitarian aid and at the urgent start of the reconstruction of the territory, under the appropriation and supervision. In addition, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces of Gaza and the restoration of Palestine’s political-geographic unit, ”says the note (read the full below).

Regarding part of Trump’s plans that provides for a transition authority, the Brazilian government states that “any international stabilization force to be unfolded in the region must have a carefully designed and duly approved mandate by the United Nations Security Council.”
Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced the American proposal on Monday after a meeting of the two White House leaders. The terrorist group responded on Friday, 3, that he accepts some elements of the peace plan, among them the renunciation of power and the liberation of all the remaining hostages.

In this context, Brazil reaffirms the conviction that the only way to just, stable and lasting peace in the Middle East involves implementing the two -state solution, with an independent and viable Palestine state, living side by side with Israel, in peace and safety, within the 1967 borders, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
