The new Surf Village, under construction in Óbidos, promises to revolutionize tourism and sport in the west. The 25 million euros project includes the first artificial wave pool of Portugal, capable of generating a thousand waves per hour and 100,000 surf sessions per year.

In a five -hectare plot, a artificial wave pool is being built, with over one million liters of water, integrated into a tourist villa with 56 bungalows, restaurant, skate park, padel courts and large green zones.

A few kilometers from the beaches of Ericeira, Peniche and Nazareth, world surf references, the Óbidos pool will produce about a thousand waves per hour, with different sizes, similar to what happens in 12 similar complexes scattered throughout the four continents.

Surfers will be the main beneficiaries of this innovative project, capable of generating waves between 12 centimeters and two meters high. Kanoa Igarashi, a world top 10 and one of the village investors, stressed the importance of equipment for the development of the sport and athletes.
