Project King Salman Stadium will be the Saudi selection home and should be delivered by 2029, with a design inspired by mountains and sustainable technology.
Saudi Arabia released the project to build a stadium that promises to revolutionize sport in the country.
King Salman Stadium, located in northern Riyadh, will have a capacity of over 92,000 people and is designed to be one of the most modern spaces in the world.
The site will have a real box of 150 seats, 120 hospitality suites, 300 VIP seats, 2,200 places for authorities and their own headquarters for the Saudi selection.
The project, which occupies more than 660,000 square meters, will also have sustainable cooling systems, internal gardens, hiking trails and a large sports structure, including pools, volleyball courts, basketball and padel.
Inspired by mountainous formations, the design will be part of the King Abdulaziz Park, connected by a green valley with sustainable walls and roofs in over 96,000 square meters.
The completion of the work is scheduled for the end of 2029, and the stadium should become the official home of the Saudi team, as well as the stage for major sporting and cultural events.
World Cup in Saudi Arabia
The announcement takes place amid preparations for the 2034 World Cup, which will be held in the country.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently confirmed the choice, consolidating Saudi Arabia as headquarters after Australia’s withdrawal.
To receive the competition, the Saudi government has committed itself to a series of infrastructure and logistics works: new transport routes, expansion of air connections, construction and renewal of 11 stadiums, as well as the creation of 185,000 new hotel rooms.
All of this is part of a plan that reinforces the country’s protagonism in the world sports scene.
