A survey by USP’s multidimensional security school points out that 24% of Brazilians would accept or smuggled, for example.

Among the interviewees, young people aged 18 to 34 are the most susceptible to consuming this type of drink. In this age group, 33% said they do not care about the origin.

The results are disclosed amid the accumulation of methanol poisoning cases present in beverages.

The research listened to 3,000 Brazilians, of which 1,880 online interviews and another 1,120 in -person interviews.

Responsible for the survey, Professor Leonardo Piquet of USP says he was surprised by the result.

“A good part says he would accept to buy an illegal drink if the price was good. Impressive as [os entrevistados] They relativize the importance of laws, “says the teacher.

“The result is also the result of the Brazilian culture of believing that the rules are only valid to protect the powerful, the industry, and this opens gaps for the person to accept an illicit commodity,” Piquet continued.

Among the interviewees, 11.5% also admitted that they have already used or use these, 64.91% know that it is a product without regulation. Of the researchers, 33% say they buy in physical stores and another 23% for walking trade.

This is the first national survey of the demand for illicit goods and services School of Multidimensional Security, and which was supported by IPSOS, a company specializing in market research.
