“Apollo”. In Greek mythology, the solar god. Inspiring artists and poets. This is also the title given to the documentary that puts the actresses Tainá Müller43, e Isis Broken30, as newcomers.
Together, they sign the direction of the project that has the first exhibition this Saturday (4), at Gávea Station, at 19:15, during the 2025 edition of the. On the scene, the public accompanies the relationship between Isis and the partner, Lourenzo Gabriel – Both people trans – during the pregnancy of their child, Apollo, naturally conceived in the pandemic.
At the time, they used social networks to denounce and ask for support from the series of prejudices and violence faced in society, as well as neglect and the unpreparedness of teams and health professionals who do not know how to welcome or respectfully deal with a parturient father, with a father bringing his son to the world.
The case, released on alternative media, has reached Tainá, which in addition to support, also proposed documenting the invisible reality of a transcentrated couple.
“I was very worried because they said that Lorenzo was not able to have medical attention because he was a trans person, that the system could not read this situation. A trans man, with his social name, guaranteeing by right since 2014, was not being attended,” Tainá tells CNN.
After that, the actress contacted Broken, which resulted in an immediate connection. There, the idea of uniting the desires came up. “[Era] A consistent way of helping to solve the situation and, at the same time, documenting so that similar cases do not repeat in the future. It was four years of work on this movie, and now it will finally be born, literally, “he celebrates.
Sensitivity in exploring different family configurations
More than urgency and sensitivity, the great breath of “Apollo” is also justified by the unprecedented of the theme. “There is an almost transcendental factor in this movie. Apollo has happened ‘unintentionally’. Trans reports of trans pregnancies usually have treatment. The man who is hormone with testosterone, needs to stop and prepare that uterus to receive this child. And Apollo came almost miraculously.”
“We enjoy all this. Because they have a question very close to spirituality. I joke that this collage is a baby album of a baby,” says Tainá.
Although the feature is about two trans people, the story intends to go further. AND about the family construction of a Brazilian family. “There is a lace rupture that reestabines itself during the making of the whole project. There is a lot of family healing there,” he adds.
A dossier, released in January, pointed out that Brazil remains one of the most lethal countries for the community. Although the survey indicates a 16% reduction compared to 2024, for the 16th consecutive year the country leads the ranking of the most murdering trans and transvestites in the world.
The cruelty behind the data was one of the reasons that made the actress want to take the documentary forward. “I think when a child is born, she is bringing life. And I think in a context of death, the greatest antidote is precisely life. We are talking about life, hope, the possibility of that family exists.”
“My desire is not to get into a clash, but to show the light of it. Isis in the movie says that I would like her son to be a luminous and unzipped child, to come to illuminate a path of hope, and I think it is in this sense that we work,” he adds.
Apollo is a birth in the largest movie birth room in Brazil.
If in works such as Netflix’s “Good Morning,” Tainá was responsible for enhancing his character in “Apollo” all efforts were centered on the script, narrative, technical part and understanding as a royal ally.
“I arrived [pensando] that had a certain wisdom. I don’t live, but as an ally I am interested and I know a lot. But no, the movie brings questions that may never have come to mind. I say that what I learned most about the mistake of thinking that the trans person was born in the wrong body. And there is this beautiful phrase from Isis talking about the movie: ‘I was not born in a wrong body. My body is potent, he made a son. ‘
“Greater learning is to celebrate the diversity of the universe as a legitimate manifestation and not see from the binary perspective that this is right, this is wrong. This has been reversed or out of normality. The universe manifests itself in a much more different way than our binary and dualistic head can see,” he concludes.
