Former federal deputy Alexandre Frota (PDT) lost the mandate of councilor in Cotia (SP) after a final decision of justice in a lawsuit filed by former deputy Jean Wyllys (PT). The cassation was formalized this Friday (3) by the mayor, Osmar Danilo da Silva (Republicans).

According to the official act, Fleet had his mandate revoked “because of a criminal conviction for willful crime, with definitive and irrecoverable sentence.” He has been licensed from office since the beginning of the year, when he took over the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the City Hall of Cotia.

The conviction is the result of a fleet publication on social networks in 2017. At the time, he falsely attributed to Wyllys a phrase about pedophilia that the former parliamentarian never said. The then deputy sued the former actor for slander and defamation. Fleet was convicted in 2018 to two years and 26 days of detention, in open regime, sentence later replaced by the provision of community services.

After successive defeats in appeals, the case became final in August, making the final decision. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not to their own facts,” said Jean Wyllys lawyer Lucas Mourão, commenting on the outcome of the case. The Federal Constitution determines the loss of mandate in cases of final criminal conviction.

In a video published on Saturday (4), Fleet thanked the support he said he received, but did not mention the conviction. “I’m fine, it’s all right. Let’s go ahead, let’s go through this one. God gives me strength and health for me to walk and help other people,” he said.

A former adult film-actor Alexandre Frota began his political career in 2018, when he was elected federal deputy for the PSL. Expelled from the party the following year after breaking Jair Bolsonaro, he joined the PSDB and later to the PDT. In 2024, he was elected councilor in Cotia, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
