Without resources for large investments, the history of legal startup Doc9 It is an example of how real market pain can become business opportunity.
Klaus Riffel, early in his career as a lawyer, faced the difficult task of managing a network of almost 300 correspondents around the country. The experience revealed the lack of efficiency and technology in the legal sector and lit the spark to the birth of the company.
“We decided to use my network to create a legal marketplace, where large stalls and legal departments that had processes spread throughout a particular region or Brazil, instead of having their network, could enter our platform and request this type of service very easily and quickly,” says Rifflel.

This path did not prevent the company from closing contracts with heavy companies such as Itaú, Ambev and of course, consolidating its reputation as a reliable partner in the sector. “We never raised investment. We grew up in the model bootstrap and we earned large customers because we deliver results. ”
Pandemic as a watershed
When the forums closed during the pandemic, the company saw its operation stop. “In the pandemic, the public agencies cascade, among them the courts that were the places where we worked it. Or we reinventing themselves or ended. We created a product that no one had and that quickly surpassed the original business line,” says the entrepreneur.
It was at this moment that a decisive turn was emerged. What could have been the end, became reinvention: Doc9 developed the first digital certificate manager in Brazil.

“We wanted to arrive in 100 customers in 2 years. We did it in 4 months. Today, we are reaching almost 1,200 customers between law firms, accounting and large companies,” says Riffles. The new product quickly surpassed the original business line and paved the way for accelerated expansion.
Today, DOC9 combines legal logistics with SAAS software and proprietary artificial intelligence. “Our focus is to show that technology can simplify and accelerate legal work. We want to be a global reference in innovation in the sector,” says Klaus.
