The median value of housing bank assessment in Portugal reached 1,965 euros per square meter in August, reveals the data this Monday released by the National Institute of Statistics (). The increase represents a homologous rise of 18.1% and 20 euros compared to July.
In the national scene, the Algarve stood out as one of the most expensive regions of the country. Us apartmentsthe median value set itself in 2.681 euros/m2just behind Greater Lisbon, which leads with 2,991 euros/m2. Already in homesthe Algarve registered 2.479 euros/m2also secondly, right after the capital (2,705 euros/m2).
These numbers put the Algarve far above the national average, reinforcing the pressure that the real estate market continues to exert in the region, particularly at a time when the tourist sector keeps high demand and housing supply is limited.
Regional differences
According to INE, the Center It was the region with the lowest values in apartments (1,472 euros/m2), while in the segment of housing the smaller prices appeared in the Center (1,063 euros/m2) and in Alentejo (1.140 euros/m2).
The largest homologous climb was found in the Setúbal Peninsulawith a growth of 24,7% compared to July, the region of the West and Tagus Valley stood out, with an appreciation of 3%.
