Closes one, opens another: Algarve prepares to open a new 5-star hotel and this was the cost of the project

The Algarve will receive a new hotel project that combines literature, gastronomy and national wines. This is Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort, located in Salgados, in Albufeira, whose opening is scheduled for February 2026.

According to the Travel Magg Specialized Travel Portal, the new unit results from the rebranding Vidarmar Hotels & Resorts, in operation since 2013, and represents an investment of 12 million euros. With this transformation, the PBH group extended to the south of the country the concept already present in Lisbon since 2021 and Porto since 2024.

More than 200 bedrooms

The resort will feature 250 rooms, distributed by seven typologies, including suites, communicating rooms and sea view options. There will also be four outer pools, two interiors, gym, spa, kids club and events dedicated to events. According to the same source, the gastronomy will have a central role, with five different proposals that cover from the Mediterranean and Asian cuisine to the Italian and the traditional Portuguese.

Adds the publication that interior architecture will be in charge of architect Joana Saraiva, also administrator of the PBH group. The inspiration for the design will come from the natural surroundings, with shades that evoke the sand, palm and lagoon, in an environment marked by the use of woods and handcrafted pieces.

Portuguese culture as a guiding thread

It refers to the same source that the Wine & Books Hotels brand is signed by the appreciation of Portuguese culture, expressed through literature, wines and gastronomy. The presence of book shelves, the brand’s symbolic element, will be one of the brand images also in this new Algarve unit.

According to the website, the chairman of the PBH Group Board of Directors, Carlos Saraiva, stresses that this project intends to “be a messenger of Portuguese culture through a tourist experience and accommodation”. The goal is to reinforce the brand’s positioning strategy in quality and exclusivity segments, focusing on authenticity.

An investment with strategic repositioning

The closing of Vidamar Hotels & Resorts, scheduled to soon, will give way to the full adaptation of the unit to the new concept. It writes the same source that the bet aims to affirm the Algarve on the map of differentiated hotel experiences, articulating cultural heritage and tourist offer.

The investment of 12 million euros seeks not only to modernize the unit, but also align the identity Wine & Books with the destination Algarve. Thus, the group reinforces its presence in the sector and expands the offer with the third unit of the brand, joining the Algarve to Lisbon and Porto.
