The House of Representatives intensifies the efforts to approve Bill 2307/07, which aims to transform the forgery of drinks into a heinous crime. The urgency of the project was approved last Thursday (2), amid growing concern about cases of alcohol adulteration in the country. The investigation is the policy analyst of the CNN Jussara Soares.
The (Republicans-PB), appointed Deputy Kiko Celeguim (PT-SP) as rapporteur of the proposal and requested speed in the elaboration of the text.
“With the project, the project can be voted directly in the plenary, without the need to go through the thematic committees or the Constitution and Justice Commission,” explains Jussara Soares.
It is conducting a listening process with various sectors involved, seeking to balance the safety of consumers and the interests of producers and entrepreneurs in the beverage industry. The final text of the report is expected to be completed later this week.
Parallel to the rapporteur’s work, the Chamber scheduled a public hearing at the Finance and Taxation Commission for next Wednesday (8), with the objective of discussing the illegal drink market.
“Mobilization demonstrates the urgency of the theme, especially given the increase in cases related to the adulteration of beverage in the country,” says the analyst.
The original project, which has been processed since 2007, has gained new impetus due to recent cases of methanol poisoning, leading the legislature to seek more rigorous measures to combat this type of crime.
