4 mayors are elected in supplementary elections in PR and RJ

Elected in Cruzeiro do Iguaçu, St. John, Sao Tome and Three Rivers will fulfill mandates by 2028

New voters and vices in Cruzeiro do Iguaçu, São João and Sao Tome (Paraná) and in Three rivers (Rio de Janeiro) This Sunday (5.out.2025). The elected will fulfill mandates by 2028.

The new elections were called by the Electoral Court after cassations and rejections of winning candidacies in 2024. In Muaná (PA), the election that was also scheduled for this Sunday was suspended by decision of Minister Isabel Gallotti, of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), who reappointed the mayor and the deputy to positions until analysis of the plenary.

Here’s the results in each city:

Cruzeiro do Iguaçu (PR)

  • Jean Cardoso (Republicans) – Elected with 55.45% of the votes;
  • Dilmar Turmina (PDT) – 44,55%.

St. John (PR)

  • JONI ZANELLA FERREIRA (PL) – Elected with 55.42% of the votes;
  • Vadeco (PSDB) – 44.58%.

Sao Tome (PR)

  • João Paulo Fogo (Republicans) – Elected with 58.19% of the votes;
  • Paraíba (Solidarity) – 41.81%.

Three Rivers (RJ)

  • Jonas I say (We can) – elected with 40.19% of the votes;
  • Juarez da Health (Solidarity) – 34.41%;
  • Bia Bogossian (PSD) – 14,75%;
  • Professor Anderson Muriçoca (PRD) – 9,76%;
  • Jorge Almeida – 0,89%.

New Elections

The Electoral Code establishes supplementary elections in cases such as the Diploma Cassationo INDEFERENCE OF APPLICATIONS REGISTRATION or when nullity reaches more than half of the votes in majority claims.
