A Life and career of Mauricio de Sousa will be portrayed in a new movie, which hits theaters on October 23rddays before the cartoonist turns 90.
In a press conference with the press before the launch, Pedro Vasconcelosresponsible for the direction and script of the film, and Mauro Sousason of the artist who starred in the work, granted some behind -the -scenes details for the creation of the feature.

Mauricio participated in the film script

Drawing stunt?

“A nice thing is also about the concept of the movie. In fact, we recognize Mauricio for his comics, and I wanted to tell this story in comics. I don’t know if you realized, but 99% of the movie is with the camera locked, without any movement, and the scenes happen inside this ‘comic’.”
Mauro, also commented on the director’s choice: “I remember when Pedro said: ‘Mauro, the camera will not move.’ I asked, ‘What do you mean, Pedro?’ And really, in many scenes, the camera was very close to my face, something new to me.
According to the actor, one of the ten children of the cartoonist, Mauricio remains “simple, humble and smiling” and tried to bring these characteristics to the screen, through his smile and look.
“Pedro spoke a lot: ‘Mauro, the eyes… The eyes are the window of the soul. You have to tell this story through them.’ This was very important to the result we sought. “
Even before the final version of the movie, Mauricio de Sousa had the opportunity to watch the movie and his reaction was also revealed by the actor.
“It was such a special moment and it was tears from start to finish and smiles. I remember my father like that, he pointed out and looked at me, gave a smile, pointed out and said, ‘Yeah, that’s how it happened’ or he just took it in my arm, in my hand and tightened it very proudly.”
