São Paulo increased the tone of criticism of arbitration after the 3-2 defeat to Palmeiras this Sunday at Morumbis. The club issued an official note questioning the performance of referee Ramon Abatti Abel and VAR, led by Ilbert Estevam da Silva, as well as pointing five errors that, according to Tricolor, were determinant for the result of the classic. However, the Sao Paulo did not ask for the cancellation of the king shock.
In addition to the statement, President Julio Casares contacted by telephone with CBF President Samir Xaud to personally express his dissatisfaction with the conduct of the match. The call was revealed by Rui Costa, the club’s soccer executive.
– President Julio Casares talked to the president of CBF, who placed the arbitration head on the line. This conversation will be formalized in document, but the severity of what happened could not expect. We need to end the impunity of the referees who make such serious mistakes – said Rui Costa.
According to the leader, the complete content of the conversation was not disclosed, but he reinforced the internal outrage with what he classified as “a collection of serious errors against the same team.” He explained that the players were spared from the interviews precisely by irritation with the arbitration.
Rui Costa was also hard in words when evaluating the performance of the arbitration team:
– These were unacceptable errors, which demonstrate dishonesty of the referee and the entire team. After the penalty in Tapia, the referee even said that the bid was “unintentionally.” This is absurd in a Serial A referee – he said.
How was the official note of São Paulo
The document released by the club, signed by Julio Casares, details five bids that, in São Paulo’s view, interfered directly on the result. The main one was the unmarked penalty about Gonzalo Tapia, when the tricolor still won 2-0.
The text also cites an unmarked foul in Tapia at the beginning of the play that resulted in the first goal of Palmeiras and three other throws that, according to Sao Paulo, should have resulted in expulsions of alviverdes players – involving Gustavo Gómez, Raphael Veiga and Andreas Pereira.
The board also demanded an immediate response from the CBF in the face of what he called “disastrous action” of the arbitration team.
Official Note of São Paulo in full
“São Paulo Futebol Clube expresses deep indignation with the arbitration of Ramon Abatti Abel and the performance of the video referee, Ilbert Estevam da Silva, in the match of this Sunday (05), against Palmeiras, Morumbis, for the Brazilian Championship. The mistakes made in capital throws had direct influence on the result of the game and represent a serious sports loss to Sao Paulo FC.
The most scandalous misconception was the non-marking of a clear penalty in Gonzalo Tapia, when the São Paulo team already won the game 2-0. Even in the face of the evidence of the bid, the field referee ignored the infraction, and the VAR, which should correct the error, chose to omit, causing perplexity to all who followed the match.
Shortly thereafter, Sao Paulo was also harmed by another clear lack in Gonzalo Tapia in play that originated a goal from the opponent – again without any intervention of the arbitration team.
Other bids also passed away: Gustavo Gómez hit Gonzalo Tapia with an elbow and a stupid, in different plays, in addition to Raphael Veiga’s disproportionate cart in Enzo, behind, and the sole with the high foot of Andreas Pereira in Marcos Antonio – also ignored by the referee and VAR.
São Paulo Futebol Clube requires the CBF arbitration committee to adopt immediate measures to another disastrous performance of the arbitration team, which compromises the credibility of the competition and the work done by players, coaching staff and board.
