The PS secretary-general showed himself on Monday satisfied by the four Portuguese detained by Israel “had come well in health”, but stood to comment more by stating that the country “has very deep concerns” on other stories.
On the sidelines of a visit to a company in Ovar under the local campaign, José Luís Carneiro was asked about the return to Portugal on the eve of the four activists, including BE Coordinator Mariana Mortágua, who were part of the Global Sumud Humanitarian Flotilla.
“Fortunately people had the state’s safeguard, the security of the state, have arrived well in Portugal, I’m pleased to have arrived well of health,” he said only.
The PS leader had begun to avoid the question, saying that this was not the theme that had taken him that company. Asked by journalists about why he has avoided this issue, Carneiro replied: “Because the country has very deep concerns with other subjects.”
