Billionaire partnership includes purchase of AI chips and makes AMD shares jump over 36% at Nasdaq this Monday (6.out)

The creator of, announced on Monday (6.out.2025) an agreement with the American manufacturer of semiconductor to provide artificial intelligence chips. The contract includes the purchase option of up to 10% of the company’s shares, according to an official statement. This is the statement (PDF – 10 MB).

The announcement had immediate impact on the financial market. AMD shares, which had closed on Friday (3.out) quoted at US $ 164.67, rose to $ 224.04 in the next trading session, up 36.05% in Nasdaq.

Under the agreement, AMD will provide sufficient GPUs (graphic processors) to generate 6 GW (gigawatts) of computational capacity, with expected deliveries over several years from the 2nd semester of 2026. OpenAI plans to build a 1 GW installation using AMD’s new line of Mi450 chips.

AMD executives estimate that the contract generates dozens of billions of dollars in annual revenue. Considering new customers attracted by the partnership, the company projects more than $ 100 billion in additional revenues over the next four years.

As part of the arrangement, AMD has granted OpenAI a purchase option of up to 160 million shares, at $ 0.01 each, released according to delivery and performance goals. AMD has 1.62 billion actions in circulation and is valued at about $ 267 billion, according to data from (London Stock Exchange Group).
