The night before the Hamas attack, there was a "systems update". No one realized the warning until dawn

Alert of the Secrets only arrived at the police at 7:03 am, while the attacks were underway for half an hour, the police investigators concluded in the report released by Haaretz and also quoted by the Spanish news agency Efe.

An Israeli Internal Security Alert on Suspicious Gaza Activities Submitted Hours was received by police only half an hour after they started, according to a report released today.

The report, released by the Haaretz newspaper on the eve of the second anniversary of Hamas attacks on October 7, was prepared by police information services about the communications received from Shin Bet, the Internal Security Agency.

Shin Bet sent the preliminary alert at 03:03 (local time), when he detected Hamas members had activated mobile phones with Israelite cards.

“According to the information we have, there is evidence of the use and activity of the YES network in several Hamas brigades. So far, we have no information about the nature of the activity,” warned Shin Bet, according to the report quoted by Haaretz.

“However, it is important to note that this is an unusual aggregate and, taking into account other indications, this may indicate an offensive activity of Hamas,” added Shin Bet, according to the libanese newspaper L’Eriente-Le Jour, which quotes Haaretz.

The sirens began to sound at the location next to the Gaza border at 6:29 am, and the thousands of young people watching the new music festival near the ‘Kibutz’ Re’im were warned minutes later to protect themselves, according to The Jerusalem Post.

But Shin Bet’s warning only arrived at police at 7:03 am, while the attacks were underway for half an hour, police investigators concluded in the report released by Haaretz and also quoted by the Spanish news agency Efe.

High police officials cited in the report said that the night before the attack there was a “system update” of communications, which caused the delay in receiving the warning of Shin Bet.

“No one realized this until dawn,” according to the information published in the Israelite newspaper.

Supposedly, police information services began analyzing data hours later and did not send it to all police districts before 08:00.

By then, the attacks against the city of Sderot had begun, the ‘Kibutz’ closest to the Gaza Strip and the Massacre at the New Music Festival.

The attacks of October 7 represented to Israel the largest security disaster in the country’s history.

Although both the army and Shin Bet has made reports to try to clarify the errors and causes that allowed them, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government refuses to launch a state investigation.

The army and Shin Bet reports, or at least the parts that were made public, barely brought new revelations, and many of the details had already been released months earlier by the national press.

For this reason, much of Israeli society, especially hostage families, has required the government to create a “state commission of inquiry”, with broad powers to investigate and summon public guardians.

So far, only six Israeli talls, both army and Shin Bet, have left their positions for not being able to prevent or limit attacks for two years.

The unprecedented attacks of the Palestinian extremist group caused about 1,200 dead and the abduction of 251 people who were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s retaliation, with an immediate military offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has caused more than 67,000 dead and the destruction of much of the small Palestinian enclave with about 2.1 million.

An international commission appointed by the UN accused Israel in September of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, which the Netanyahu government denies.
