The crisis between the United States and Venezuela has been intensifying in the last days of sending US ships to the Venezuelan coast, in an operation aimed at combating drug cartels in the region. This Sunday (5), US President Donald Trump stated that terrestrial drug trafficking will be the focus of the next military offensive in the Caribbean.
In a navy speech, the Republican leader said that US forces reached another vessel allegedly carrying drugs from the coast of Venezuela on Saturday night (4). It was not clear, however, if he referred to the attack announced on Friday (3) by the US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.
Authorization for attacks on Venezuela coast
US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said he has all authorizations to allow the Caribbean attacks by the US Armed Forces against vessels that carried illegal drugs on the coast of Venezuela.

Hegseth made the statement in an interview with Fox News broadcast on Sunday. The United States killed four people in an attack on Friday, at least the fourth attack in recent weeks.
“We have all permitted authorizations. They are designated as foreign terrorist organizations,” Hegseth said in an interview on Fox News “The Sunday Briefing.”
Hegseth and President Donald Trump did not provide evidence of evidence that boats saw drugs. Trump told Congress last week that he had determined that the US was in “an international armed conflict” with drug cartels without providing any new legal justification.

Russian Support to Venezuela
After US attacks on vessels near Venezuela, Russian chancellor Sergei Lavrov expressed “full support and solidarity” to Caracas. According to the Venezuelan government, Moscow reinforced his commitment to keep Latin America and the Caribbean as a “peace zone.”
“The ministers expressed serious concern with the climb of Washington actions in the Caribbean Sea, which could have long -reach consequences for the region,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Four people were killed in the October 3 attack on the vessel that Washington accused of carrying “substantial amounts of narcotics – bound for America to poison our people.”
