Ryanair, Europe’s largest low -cost airline, known for their rigidity in the dimensions and weight of luggage, will increase financial incentives for its employees with the obeying of reinforcing control. The Irish company announced that the reward for each bag that exceeds the allowed size will rise from 1.50 euro (R $ 9.39) to 2.50 euros (R $ 15.67) from November.

In addition, Ryanair will remove the 80 euros monthly ceiling (R $ 501.28) for bonus, allowing employees to accumulate these boundary incentives.

According to the company’s current policy, basic rates include only a small item that fits under the passenger seat, with maximum measurements of 40 x 30 x 20 centimeters. A second piece of hand luggage, such as a small suitcase with wheels, can be taken on board at an additional fee.

Passengers who are caught with outstanding bags can be fined up to 75 euros (R $ 469.95) for dispatching the luggage in the basement. Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary defended the reinforcement of the measures at a press conference in London: “We want everyone to follow the rules. If you follow the rules, no problem.”

The company’s CEO, Michael O’leary, said that only 0.1% of Ryanair’s 200 million annual passengers, about 200,000 people, is stopped for magazines. Still, the company argues that more rigorous inspection is essential to maintaining basic rates low and the punctuality of flights.

The practice is not unique to Ryanair. Rival airlines such as Easyjet have also resorted to rewards to encourage employees to apply the rules.
