Research from Nexus Data Intelligence, commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism, points out that 81% of the residents of Belém, the capital of Pará, are optimistic about the impacts of COP30 on the city.
The disclosure comes at a delicate moment for the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, who is pressured by his party, União Brasil, to leave office. He is the target of an internal process of expulsion from the acronym, but does not want to leave the chair a month from the climate event in Belém.
Sabino is Paraense and is intended to compete for a Senate vacancy in Pará in 2026. For him, the data confirm the importance of the climate conference as a milestone for the local economy.

“Bethlehem we are preparing for COP30 is not a city of facade. It is the Belém of the people who will receive a real legacy with the various investments made in the city. What we are doing here is not just organizing an event, is to build a legacy of hope and self -esteem for the people of the Amazon,” said the minister.
According to the Nexus survey, 71% of the population believes that tourism, hotel and gastronomy should be the most benefited from the economic point of view, followed by trade and retail (33%).
The research gives evidence of why Sabino does not want to leave the folder. According to the study released by the ministry, 70% of Pará expected a positive or very positive impact on COP30 in a broad way.

Sabino even communicated to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) that he would leave the ministry, but after a series of trips alongside the petista in Pará, he circled that would be in his chair even the reverse of his party.
The survey was conducted by Nexus Data Intelligence between September 18 and 22, 2025, with 1,506 residents of Belém. The margin of error is 2.5 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95%.
