A federal judge in Oregon temporarily blocked Donald Trump’s government on Sunday from sending troops to Portland. It is a decision that puts a brake on the desire of the US president who seeks to send the army to cities despite the objections of their democratic leaders.
The federal judge’s ruling Karin Ibergat followed Trump’s decision to call troops from California and Texas. This move was made just a day after the temporary ban it imposed on Trump.
The judge, who was appointed by Trump during his first term, said there was no evidence that recent protests demanded the presence of troops of the National Guard, regardless of their origin.
“How is it possible for the transfer of the Federal National Guard from California not to be an immediate violation of the (decision) I issued yesterday?” Ibergat asked the lawyer of the Ministry of Justice Eric Hamilton during listening on Sunday night.
For his part, Hamilton responded that the California National Guard was legally fed up on June 7, on a mission that “was in no way limited to the state of California”.
