There is still a serious injury
A building building collapsed this Tuesday in downtown Madrid, near the opera zone. Spanish authorities confirm that there are at least four people arrested between the rubble and a serious injury that was transported to the hospital.
“The building collapsed completely and are verifying that there are several workers left; we have all been removed and the street is cut,” said the manager of one of the Calle Hileras stores.

There are several teams from Madrid firefighters and several Samur-PC Emergency Service ambulances. The building, which was in rehab and will have suffered the collapse of several floors, was partially abandoned.
“The building that fell was abandoned a long time ago and was under construction; they had installed a huge crane on scaffolding. They had told me that they were going to build a hotel and that the works were going to take two years. Half an hour, I felt a terrible tremor on the street and raised a lot of powder in front of the building, a cloud that made people scared and confused,” said a neighbor of the street that felt the impact of the fall.
According to the first reports, the property would be converted into a hotel and had been under construction for several months.
The causes of the collapse are being investigated, but the authorities admit that the number of victims may increase in the coming hours.
