Márcio Cruz Meirelles, former statutory director of Americanas (), signed this Tuesday (7), a plea bargain agreement with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) within the investigation into the accounting scandal that occurred at the company. The information is from the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
Meirelles is the fourth former executive of the retailer to form a collaboration, after Marcelo Nunes, Flávia Carneiro and Fabio Abrate. According to Sheetthe information brought by Meirelles is complementary to that already obtained, detailing the internal culture of pressure for results and the beginning of fraudulent accounting maneuvers.
The content of the complaint will be incorporated into the complaint presented by the MPF in March, which already includes 13 former employees and executives accused of fraud totaling at least R$22.8 billion. Among those reported are names such as Miguel Gutierrez, former CEO of Americanas, and Anna Saicali, former CEO of B2W, as well as vice-presidents and directors of the company.

On January 11, 2023, Americanas reported accounting inconsistencies amounting to R$20 billion. On the same day, newly arrived CEO Sergio Rial and CFO André Covre resigned from their positions.
The day after the announcement, the shares fell 77%, going from R$12 to R$2.72 and losing R$8.34 billion in market value, with the perception that the company would face many difficulties due to the breach.
On January 19, the retailer made its request for judicial recovery official, being excluded from 14 B3 indices.

Americanas initiated arbitration against the four former executives earlier this year. Last October, the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) accused the four, along with other former managers of the company, of using privileged information.
In March, the MPF denounced thirteen former executives and former employees of Americanas for involvement in . Prosecutors point to Miguel Gutierrez, former CEO, as the main person responsible for the fraud.
The MPF states that, while leading Lojas Americanas, Gutierrez was aware of all the fraud, including suggesting changes to the financial statements that would be released.
