OpenAI is facilitating ChatgPT users to connect with third party applications within Chatbot to perform tasks, the company’s latest initiative to transform its main product into a fundamental gateway to digital services.

With the new option, presented on Monday (6) during the annual event for OpenAi developers, the ChatgPT user can ask to create a playlist for the weekend, and the app will connect to Spotify for suggestions. Alternatively, the user can seek a three -bedroom house in a specific neighborhood in the Zillow Real Estate Portal, without leaving the chatgpt app. Other applications, including Figma, Expedia and Booking.com, are also available. The feature, which OpenAi calls “chat with apps”, requires users to log in the applications the first time.

“We hope this will be a breakthrough to help developers climb products quickly,” said OpenAi CEO Sam Altman, in a main speech at the event in San Francisco.

The event ends a few intense weeks for the company. OpenAi has completed a secondary sale of actions that made it the most valuable startup in the world. It has introduced several remarkable features and products, including a social video app called Sora, which quickly reached the top of Apple’s App Store. And he announced multiple large infrastructure agreements with Nvidia, AMD and others to support the broader adoption of its technology.

In a sign of the growing influence of OpenAi on the market, a long list of companies, including Figma, Expedia and Booking, saw their actions rise on Monday after being mentioned during the event for developers. “This is something strange that started to happen,” Altman said at a press conference at the end of the day when asked about market movements. “We are trying to understand how to adjust to this kind of world, but it’s strange.”

OpenAi now has over 800 million weekly chatgpt users, Altman said on Monday. The rapid growth of the service helped boost OpenAi’s revenue. In September, the OpenAi CFO, Sarah Friar, said in a conference that the company is on the way to generate $ 13 billion in revenue this year, against $ 4 billion in 2024. Still, AI developer remains without profit due to billions of annual computing and research costs, not to mention the recent OpenAi spending wave in chips and data centers.

“Obviously, one day we will have to be very profitable and we are confident and patient we will get there,” said Altman. “But at the moment, we are in an investment and growth phase.”

To compensate for part of this heavy investment, OpenAi, like its peers, is working to attract companies and developers. At Monday’s event, OpenAi also launched software called Agentkit, which aims to help developers create and launch the so-called AI agents-usually software that can perform a number of tasks with little or no human intervention.

Altman said several companies have built agents with the tools, including Albertson’s, Box and Canva. “Before, the software took years or months to be built,” he said. “Now it can take minutes.”

Over the next six months, OpenAi expects ChatgPT to evolve to be another operating system where users can access more and new software, according to Nick Turley, who leads the ChatgPT team.

“We never intended to build a chatbot when we created ChatgPT,” Turley said. “We wanted to build a super assistant and we diverted a little.”
