The season for mushrooms in Polish forests continues, but unfortunately some edible species are massively overlooked by collectors. Of course, in the absence of 100 % certainty as to whether a given specimen is suitable for consumption, it is better to let go than get into poisoning. Maybe you don’t know, but Mushrooms and chanterelles are not the only mushrooms with plates that you can put in the basket.

This list is longer than you think. So let’s gain knowledge to learn to recognize less popular edible mushrooms so that you can broaden the diversity of collections in the future (Not only sponge mushrooms, which by some are considered safer, although there are also poisonous specimens among them).

The list of edible mushrooms with plates is longer than you may think. You know some of them perfectly. You have certainly tried the dining pepper coat of one who is commonly called colloquially (Cantharellus food). Its yellow-orange color and a folded hat or folded plates are characteristic. You will meet him in coniferous forests (do not mistake her with a poisonous orange fox).

Another popular fungus with plates is magnificent (Macrolepiota process), whose hallmark is a large hat of up to 25-30 cm, has brown scales and a movable ring On the stem in its upper part. It tastes extremely good after frying, but be careful not to confuse young pieces with poisonous toadstools.

It is also impossible to fail to mention the known generation meadow mushroom (Agaricus campestris) with a white hat, plates that pink in young specimens, the older ones are brownish. When collecting it, check carefully if it’s definitely not poisonous toadless toadless.

  • Brass funnel (Craterellus Cornucopioides) – an edible mushroom that looks interesting. Has a dark brown color and resembles a funnel or trumpet. It is difficult to mistake it for another species, it is tasty and aromatic.
