The mayor of the German city of Herdecke, Iris Stalzerhe is in critical condition after being allegedly attacked by several men with a knife at the door of his house. Stalzer, 57 years old and social democrat, had accessed position after the municipal elections held last September at the populous ‘Land’ of North-Westphaly Rhine.
According to the newspaper ‘Bild’, he received several stomach and back. He managed to crawl to the interior of his home, where his two children, a 15 -year -old boy and a 17 -year -old girl were and were the ones who altered the police.
The attack occurred on noon and, according to that media, the police took a teenager from the place, apparently the mayor’s own son. Once in the police vehicle, he was handcuffed, apparently to avoid erase or disappear clues.
Regional public television also states that the agents took a young man, although without giving more details.
In a message in social networks, Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed his support for the relatives of politics and urged a rapid clarification of what happened. The Social Democratic Party (SPD), the formation of the mayor, has also shown its shock because of what happened.
Stalzer was elected mayor in the second round of the municipal of Hernecke, a city of 22,500 inhabitants. The other finalist was imposed on that round, the candidate of the Christian -democratic union (CDU).
