US President Donald Trump claims that there is a real chance of reaching a peace agreement to terminate the war in the Gaza Strip. Trump thus commented on Tuesday, on the day of the second anniversary of the Palestinian militant movement Hamas to Israel, after which the war in the Palestinian enclave began. Hamas and Israel delegations are currently indirectly negotiating Trump’s peace plan. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
“We are very close to the conclusion of the Middle East agreement that will bring peace to the Middle East,” Trump said in an oval office alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Trump said that US negotiators are also involved in the current negotiations in Egypt. The White House on Monday said that a special US envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son -in -law Jared Kushner will play a role in negotiations.
“There is a real chance we can do something,” declared the US President. “I think there is a possibility that we can have peace in the Middle East. This is something that goes beyond the situation in Gaza. We want the immediate release of hostages,” continued.
At the same time, the President explained that another US team had traveled to the negotiations. In his words, every country in the world supported the peace plan. If Hamas and Israel agree on a ceasefire and ending the war, the United States will do everything possible to ensure that all parties to comply with the agreement, he added.
Trump last week introduced a 20-point peace plan to end the war in the Gaza Stripthat includes the administration of this territory after the war. Israel agreed to the plan and Hamas announced on Friday that it accepts some points, but he said it is necessary to negotiate for others. He expressed his willingness, for example, in connection with the release of all Israeli hostages.
