A total of 580 people who were trapped in the snow in the eastern area of Mount Everest, Tibeta, were rescued on Tuesday (7), according to the state agency of China. Among those rescued were climbers, local guides and support employees.
The search and rescue operation was one of the largest ever performed in the region, which is an average altitude of 4,200 meters.
On Sunday (5), the rescue teams guided about 350 climbers to a safe place. According to a previous report from Reuters, citing a source, they should be safe until Tuesday.
T also frustrated the plans of the US -based Madison Madison Madison of Cho Oyu, a peak of 8,188 meters on the China border with Nepal.
The Karma Valley was first explored by Western travelers a century ago. In recent years, with the development of the Everest region in Tibeta as a major tourist attraction, the area has attracted a growing number of visitors.
More than 540,000 tourists visited the Everest region last year, a new record. The region remains temporarily closed to the public, said Xinhua, including the valleys of Karma and Rongshar, as well as Cho Oyu.
The strong snowfall over the weekend also affected hundreds of mountaineers in other parts of western China, including Xinjiang, Qinghai and Gansu. At least one died due to a combination of hypothermia and acute mountain malaise.
