Hamas and Israel move: first exchange of lists of hostages and prisoners

In less than 24 hours after one of the last ones, one of the greatest advances has taken place in the framework of the negotiations to materialize or at least crystallize the proposed two-way peace plan between the US and Israel. Hamas just announced this Wednesday that an initial exchange of lists with names from both sides has already taken place.

On the one hand, that of the Palestinian prisoners that the Islamic militia demands be released from Israeli prisons – as has happened with each previous exchange – and that of the Israeli hostages – or dual nationals – who will be released. It is one of the necessary steps to develop in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh. “The list of prisoners who would be exchanged has been exchanged, in line with the agreed criteria and figures,” revealed the spokesman for the political wing of Hamas, Taher al Nunu.

This is an especially relevant issue for the Israeli Prime Minister, who yesterday gave information in an interview with Ben Saphiro, wanted to correct himself immediately and was wrong again. “Each one of them is a world,” the families of those kidnapped ended up answering on October 7, when yesterday marked the second anniversary of the massacre.

Hamas focuses on key points

Along these lines, the Palestinian Islamist movement has shown signs that they are focused on becoming entrenched again in certain points. “The Hamas delegation has demonstrated the positivity and responsibility necessary to achieve the required progress and complete the agreement,” reported the Palestinian newspaper Filastin, citing the Palestinian insurgency.

“There is a spirit of optimism among all parties,” which is reflected in the fact that “the negotiations focus on the mechanisms to implement an end to the war, the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza and the exchange of prisoners.” That is, what is truly important for the Palestinian cause and post-Israeli invasion Gaza.

Thus, Hamas has made it clear that the priorities on which they negotiate are the following: “[Que se ] guarantee a ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupation Army, the entry of aid, the return of the displaced to their homes and the immediate start of reconstruction under the supervision of a Palestinian body of technocrats.”
