The results of the new round of Genial/Quaest research, released this Wednesday (8), show a consistent recovery in the popularity of the Lula government. The analysis is by Quaest CEO, Felipe Nunes.

A, according to the survey. 48% approve of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) third term. Those who disapprove are 49%. With a margin of error of 2 percentage points, plus or minus, the indices appear to be in a technical tie.

According to Nunes, since July, in addition to popularity, the federal administration has also recovered its credibility. In the current survey, 25% of respondents say that management is better than they expected. In September, they were 21%, while in May they were 16%.

Regarding the approval of the federal government, Nunes highlights the results among the female public and voters in the Northeast. Both segments have regained popularity in recent months.

“But what can help explain this tie in government approval? The accumulation of political victories, transformed into more positive news, is a good sign of what is happening”, points out Nunes.

Quaest’s CEO highlights the UN General Assembly, as well as the Brazilian president’s speech on the occasion.

Another positive news for the government that had a positive impact, according to Nunes, was the approval of the IR (Income Tax) exemption for those earning up to R$5,000 in the Chamber of Deputies.

“Expectations regarding the measure are very high, even exaggerated: 41% of Brazilians believe that the income reform will bring an important improvement to their finances. An expectation that exceeds the real numbers presented by the Revenue”, points out the expert.

For Nunes, another “victory for the government narrative” was the growth in the percentage of Brazilians who are against the ban on former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and others convicted of anti-democratic acts. (it was 41% in the last survey), while 35% are in favor of the measure being approved for everyone, including Bolsonaro (it was 36% in September).
