What had been apparent for months actually happened on Wednesday night. In a rapid rally, the gold price broke through the historic mark of $4,000 per troy ounce (31.1 grams) for the first time. On Wednesday afternoon, one troy ounce already cost 4,044 dollars (3,480.66 euros). Since the beginning of the year, gold has gained 53 percent and has left other asset classes far behind. Not even the rapidly rising Bitcoin price can currently keep up with this development.
