From October 11th to 14th, Rio de Janeiro will host the 5th Latin American Forum against Anti-Semitism, which will bring together legislators, diplomats, religious leaders and activists from 18 countries.
The organization is part of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), a global entity that denounces attacks on Jewish targets in several countries.
According to the organization, there is a record increase in anti-Semitic incidents around the world — more than 4,500 between January and August this year, an increase of 10% compared to the entire year 2024.
“Anti-Semitism is currently experiencing its worst wave since the end of the Second World War,” says Shay Salamon, director of CAM. According to him, “in Latin America, anti-Israel speeches and decisions by some governments fuel anti-Semitism and weaken social cohesion.”
says that “hosting an international forum of this relevance in our country is essential to mobilize society and authorities in the fight against this global challenge.”
The event is supported by Conib, Fierj (Israeli Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro) and Rio City Hall. Other confirmed presences include Fernando Lottenberg, OAS commissioner to combat anti-Semitism, and Catalan journalist and writer Pilar Rahola.
