The national command decided to punish him this Wednesday (8) due to his stay in the government, in which he holds the Tourism portfolio. The party announced last month the disembarkation of the PT administration.
The party opened an expulsion process, sending the case to the Ethics Council, for analysis within 60 days; dissolved the Pará directory, controlled by Sabino; and removed him from all party activity. He was a member of the national executive and the national directory.
The decision to punish took place during a meeting held this morning, with members of the national executive of União Brasil summoned by the president of the party, Antônio Rueda.
Sabino participated in the meeting and said in a press interview that, under the justification that he was personally involved with COP30 and that he cannot abandon his portfolio now, with just a few days left until the event takes place. His electoral base, Pará, is the venue for the diplomatic meeting.
“We are 30 days away from COP30, the largest diplomatic meeting in the world. It is not opportune for there to be an interruption in work. I will remain for the good of the people of Pará, for COP30”, he said.
He also stated that he understands that the current government currently represents the best project for the country and that he should emerge as a candidate in the 2026 elections, when he will have to leave the Esplanada and return to the Legislature, due to the mandatory non-compliance.
He also said that União Brasil made wrong decisions and that the parties need to serve the interests of the population.
Present at the meeting, the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), pre-candidate for Planalto, said that Sabino plays into the hands of the PT and behaves like a traitor.
“If he really wants to stay in government, it’s a unique immorality. Lula’s soldier and União Brasil’s soldier? What’s that like? It’s a condition that cannot be accepted,” said Caiado, before entering the meeting.
In addition to Sabino, the PP also announced this Wednesday that the Minister of Sports, André Fufuca, was the national vice-presidency of the party and the presidency of the party in Maranhão. The punishment occurred due to Fufuca’s resistance to leaving the ministry.
“The party reiterates its position that it is not and will not be part of the current government, with which it does not have any ideological or programmatic identification”, explained the national president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), in a statement.
Sabino is a federal deputy for Pará and took leave of office in 2023 to occupy the position of Minister of Tourism in the PT administration, replacing Daniela Carneiro.
