Electronics retailer Fast Shop announced this Thursday (9) that it will close 11 physical stores and a distribution center. The initiative is part of an internal structuring process, which takes place after Operation Ícaro, which investigates an alleged corruption and tax fraud scheme involving companies in the retail sector and tax auditors from the State Finance Department. The company told the newspaper that it constantly reevaluates its structure and operations, and that the closure was part of moves to increase the company’s operational efficiency. Fast Shop also stated that the “diligent stance” that guaranteed the group’s sustainability and development over almost 40 years of history.
The closure also includes A2You brand units in Curitiba (PR) and several Fast Shop units in different states, such as São Paulo, Bahia and Ceará. In addition to the stores, a distribution center located in Fortaleza will also be closed.
