The case was opened after the parliamentarian wore, inside the National Congress, a t-shirt with the phrase “amnesty is shit”, in protest against the project that provides for amnesty for those involved in the coup acts of January 8, 2023
The Ethics Council of the Chamber of Deputies rejected this Wednesday (8) the request to revoke the deputy’s mandate (Avante-MG). The case was opened after the parliamentarian wore, inside the National Congress, a t-shirt with the phrase “amnesty is shit”, in protest against the project that provides amnesty for those involved in the coup acts of January 8, 2023.
The case’s rapporteur, Zé Haroldo Cathedral (PSD-RR), stated that the deputy’s attitude is “within the limits of reasonableness” and does not constitute a violation of parliamentary immunity. Based on this understanding, he recommended the filing of the process, approved by 13 votes to 4.
In addition to this episode, Janones is the target of two other proceedings before the Ethics Council. One of them was motivated by a publication in which the deputy called Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) a “murderer” and “corrupt” on social media. The other deals with a complaint according to which the parliamentarian had demanded that employees in his office return part of their salaries to pay off campaign debts.
Both representations were presented by the Liberal Party (PL) and were also scheduled for analysis this Wednesday. With today’s decision, Janones is free from one of the disciplinary actions, but is still under investigation on the other two fronts open at the collegiate.
