O dollar began Thursday (9) at a low in Brazil, in line with the retreat of the American currency against some currencies that are similar to the real abroad, such as the South African rand, the Chilean peso and the Mexican peso.

The agents also seek to digest the shelving, by Congress, of the provisional measure on taxation of financial investments, in a harsh defeat for the Lula government on Wednesday night.

At 9:13 am, the spot dollar fell 0.19%, to R$5.3328 on sale.
