The São Paulo government delivered the technical-financial feasibility studies and the reference project for Metro Line 16-Violet. The completion of this stage marks the progress of the project to the final phase before the publication of the auction notice, scheduled for the first half of 2026.
The new line should connect the west zone to the east zone, with 16 stations in the initial section — between Teodoro Sampaio (Pinheiros) and Abel Ferreira (Vila Formosa) — and an average travel time of 34 minutes.
The route will pass through strategic and valued neighborhoods, such as Jardins, Aclimação, Moema, Vila Mariana, Ipiranga and Mooca, including stations in front of the Ibirapuera, Independência and Aclimação parks, old demands of the population.

The implementation will be carried out through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) lasting 31 years, nine of which will be dedicated to construction. The model is similar to that of Line 6-Orange, operated by a consortium led by Acciona, a Spanish company that also showed interest in bidding for the new line.
Acciona was selected by the State to prepare the technical documents for the bid, delivered in June. Public investment in studies was R$42.3 million. The updated project foresees an extension to Teodoro Sampaio station, expanding the reach of the line on the western axis.
According to economic-financial modeling, the estimated total cost of the first phase is R$125.1 billion, with R$27.1 billion in public contributions and R$97.9 billion in payments throughout the contract. The values do not include the second phase of the line, which must be added in a future contractual amendment.
Continues after advertising
The winning concessionaire will be able to explore ancillary revenues, such as advertising on panels and interactive systems, rental of commercial spaces, station naming rights and complementary services such as luggage storage and parking.
Estimates point to gains of R$20.9 million to R$33.2 million in the first year of operation, reaching up to R$58 million annually when all stations are in operation.
The first phase of Line 16-Violet is scheduled for delivery in 2035, and should become a new structuring mobility axis in the city, connecting dense regions and important economic hubs in São Paulo.
