Federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) voted “wrongly” during the analysis of Provisional Measure 1303/2025, which deals with new taxation rules on investments. The proposal is seen as an alternative to the increase in the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF).
By voting “no” to the MP’s withdrawal from the agenda, the parliamentarian was harshly criticized by right-wing allies on social media. Among the attacks, the general secretary of the Missão/PR party, William Rocha, cursed Nikolas and accused him of acting as an “agent of the Lula government”.
“B. from @nikolas_dm voted AGAINST the MP’s withdrawal from the agenda of the tax increase. Nikolas is an agent of the Lula government to impose more taxes on the population”, wrote Rocha.

Nikolas publicly admitted the mistake and explained, also on social media, that he got confused during the vote because he was taking care of his newborn daughter.
“I campaigned all day against MP 1303 and, taking care of my newborn daughter here, I got confused and voted wrong lol it happens. But, thank God, it was removed from the agenda. No more taxes!!! Brazil wins ????”, wrote the deputy.
The MP was removed from the agenda, as the opposition defended.
