Should chats on messenger services such as WhatsApp or Signal in the EU be automatically searched for depictions of child abuse? The search for agreement on this issue had to be called off again on Wednesday without any results. As the German press agency dpa reports, citing diplomatic circles, a compromise proposal from the Danish EU Council Presidency did not receive sufficient support. But the discussion is far from over. The proposal, which has already been revised several times, is likely to be revised again and discussed again.
