The Minister of Tourism, (), arrived at the meeting of his party’s national executive this Wednesday morning (8) saying that he will remain in the government (PT). The leadership discusses possible punishment for him after the PT administration.
In a brief interview with the press before entering the meeting, Sabino stated that he was personally involved with the event and that now, with just a few days left until the event takes place. Its electoral base is Pará, the venue for the diplomatic meeting.
Asked if a possible exit could occur after the event in Pará, Sabino stated that he understands that the current government currently represents the best project for the country and that a candidate should emerge in 2026, when he will have to leave his seat at Esplanada and return to the Legislature, due to the mandatory de-compatibilization.
“We are 30 days away from COP30, the largest diplomatic meeting in the world. It is not opportune for there to be an interruption in work. I will remain for the good of the people of Pará, for COP30”, he said.
Sabino also stated that União Brasil made wrong decisions and that the parties need to serve the interests of the population. He said that the process he suffers in the party is not fair.
The governor of Goiás, pre-candidate for Planalto, also participates in the meeting. In a press interview before the meeting, Caiado stated that Sabino’s stay would be “something unacceptable”.
“If he really wants to stay in government, it’s a unique immorality. Lula’s soldier and União Brasil’s soldier? What’s that like? It’s a condition that cannot be accepted,” he said.
“I am perplexed to imagine that a person wants to be within a government structure that is in direct opposition to what the party defends and thinks”, he continued.
At this Wednesday’s meeting three points will be discussed. The first of these is the possibility of intervention in the state directory of Pará. The second is the eventual removal from all party activity of Sabino, who is a member of the national executive and the party’s national directory. The third item on the agenda is the possibility of an expulsion process, with the case sent to the Ethics Council for analysis within 60 days.
In addition to União Brasil, the PP also approved the arrival of the Lula government and, this Wednesday, announced that the Minister of Sports, André Fufuca, was the national vice-presidency of the party and the presidency of the party in Maranhão.
The punishment occurred due to Fufuca’s resistance to leaving the ministry.
“The party reiterates its position that it is not and will not be part of the current government, with which it does not have any ideological or programmatic identification,” said the national president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), in a statement.
