Innsbruck – As expected, the Tyrolean state parliament lifted the immunity of FPÖ leader Markus Abwerzger in a confidential plenary session on Wednesday. In July, the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office submitted an application to lift this immunity in order to be able to investigate the case surrounding controversial social media videos against the state party chairman for the offense of incitement to hatred. Abwerzger had stated that he would also agree to the lifting of immunity.
