Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed commitment to bilateral relations during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Kim Jong-un’s party
The Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang (Communist Party of China), and the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un (Workers’ Party of Korea), met on Thursday (9.Oct.2025) to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the countries. The meeting took place in Pyongyang during celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean party.
Li said he seeks to step up high-level exchanges and communication with North Korea. According to the Chinese premier, consolidating and developing traditional friendly relations between countries is a “unshakable policy” from Beijing.
“The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have always considered ties with North Korea from a long-term, strategic perspective.”said the prime minister.
Kim Jong-un, in turn, declared that North Korea “firmly supports the one-China principle.”opposing Taiwanese independence. The topic is one between the Chinese government and Western countries, such as the United States, which support the island’s autonomous government.
The North Korean leader defined diplomacy between the countries as “unbreakable” and reinforced the “unshakable position” of the North Korean party and government, regardless of changes in the international situation. According to him, this serves the common interests of both sides and contributes to peace, stability and regional development.
