The Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, announced on Wednesday night, the 8th, his departure from União Brasil. According to Sabino, it became “unbearable” to remain in the party, although he highlighted the alliances he built during the period in which he was part of the party.
Sabino was suspended from party activities, after failing to comply with União Brasil’s determination to leave the government. The minister was removed from the presidency of the party directory in Pará and an expulsion process was opened against him.
“We have great leadership in the State (Pará) through this party and at a national level too, we have many friends, but I believe that my stay in this party has become really unsustainable”, declared Sabino, to CNN Brasil.

The minister also stated that he did nothing to justify his expulsion from the party. “I don’t owe anything, I didn’t do anything to deserve this expulsion. But I believe that my political experience at União Brasil has already given what it had to give”, he added.
Also this Wednesday, Sabino had a clash with the governor of Goiás, (União Brasil). The governor stated that “you cannot serve two masters”, when referring to the minister’s situation.
“You cannot serve two masters: being Lula’s soldier and, at the same time, representing a party that has already declared opposition to the government,” said Caiado, pre-candidate for the Presidency.

Sabino countered: “When he reaches 1.5% in the polls (for the 2026 presidential elections), I will respond.” The phrase refers to a provocation used by Lula himself against Caiado during a presidential debate in 1989.
