The president of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Thursday, the 9th, that hostages held by Hamas should be released on Monday, the 13th, or Tuesday, the 14th, and added that he intends to travel to Gaza and Israel on Sunday, the 12th. During a press conference before a bilateral meeting with the president of Finland, Alexander Stubb, Trump said that, after the conflict in the Middle East, “we want to reach a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine” and predicted that both countries “will return to the negotiating table very soon”.
Trump also said that the US “may impose more sanctions against Russia to push for an end to the war in Ukraine” and stressed that he does not plan to withdraw American troops from Europe, although he “may move them around” within the continent.
Asked about the possibility of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, which will be announced this Friday, the Republican declared: “I resolved eight wars in nine months. No one has ever done that in three years, let alone in nine months.”

When commenting on European security, Trump stated that the United States would defend Finland in the event of a possible Russian attack, but added that “that will not happen”. He also confirmed that the two countries are “buying icebreakers and building them with Finland”, a project that, according to Stubb, involves the construction of four vessels in Finland and seven in the USA.
The Republican also suggested that “maybe we should take Spain out of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)”, criticizing the Spanish government for not agreeing to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP. According to Trump, “allies need to fulfill their obligations if they want to remain protected.”
