Celebration of Brazil’s patron saint should generate R$ 168.8 million in direct spending on accommodation, food, transport and commerce

Devotees usually stay for 3 to 4 days in the city, known as the national capital of faith, located in the Paraíba Valley, 180 km from the capital of São Paulo.

The weekends will concentrate the largest tourist flow, with around 150,000 people arriving in the city, according to data from .

Visitors take advantage of their stay to discover the National Sanctuary, considered the largest Marian sanctuary in the world, in addition to exploring local tourist attractions.

The festival mainly attracts families and groups of devotees who travel to Aparecida using various means of transport, such as private cars, buses, organized tours and pilgrimages on foot.

CIET, linked to the (Secretariat of Tourism and Travel of the State of São Paulo), estimates that the R$ 168.8 million represents direct spending by visitors on accommodation, food, transport and local commerce.

Aparecida remains an important religious tourism destination throughout the year, with peak visits during October celebrations. The expectation is that, after the party ends, the city will gradually return to its normal flow of visitors.
