Photograph was published on an Instagram profile dedicated to ancient Roman art; likes and comments have grown significantly
One dedicated to ancient Roman art received an unusual amount of comments and likes from Brazilian users. The reason: a photograph of a statue, part of the New York collection, which bears physical similarities to the president (PT).
Until this Saturday (October 11, 2025), at 6:30 am (Brasília time), the “Portrait bust of a man in bronze”published on October 2nd on the @decimusclaudius profile, had 12,486 likes and 2,883 comments. The other photos on the account usually have 100 to 450 likes.
According to , man is represented “with the short beard and hair characteristic of the 3rd century AD. Likewise, his toga features the broad fold over the chest that is seen in many life-size marble portrait busts of the period. Although this bronze bust reveals a high degree of individualization, the sitter has not been identified with any known historical figure.”
The statue, 22.2 cm high, is from the Late Roman Empire and dates from the 1st half of the 3rd century AD
