Buy on All Saints' Day instead of chrysanthemums. They stay up to twice as long

Sedum spectabile is increasingly replacing chrysanthemums on tombstones.. Its fleshy, water-storing leaves make it perfectly tolerant of both cold and autumn dryness. It does not wither after the first frost, and its inflorescences retain their intense color even for several weeks after cutting. In addition, it does not require any care, it does not need to be watered or protected from the night cold.

In October and November, sedum looks particularly impressive. Its flowers range in color from powder pink to deep burgundy, so they match perfectly with heather and autumn twigs. It stays fresh in a pot or decoration up to twice as long as a chrysanthemum. Even after flowering, it looks decorative thanks to its dry, lightly dusted inflorescences. It is this durability that makes more and more people choose it for cemeteries. This is especially important when the November weather is not favorable for flowers with delicate petals.

Although sedum is unrivaled in terms of durability, it is not the only alternative to chrysanthemums. Ornamental cabbages also work well on cold days, as they color beautifully at low temperatures. They then take on shades of purple, pink and white. Heathers and briars are an equally interesting choice. These plants are frost-resistant, do not require watering, and are very elegant.

Compositions made of conifers appear more and more often on tombstonespreferably in miniature versions. They are evergreen and will be a decoration for a very long time. They do not need to be watered often, they can be a beautiful background for compositions of dried flowers in autumn. In winter, however, they can easily be given a festive character. Combined with moss or dried grass, they create natural, modern decorations. They will look beautiful even when the weather is not good.
