This Friday (10) dismissed two allies with influential names from and in response to , with which the government hoped to open up fiscal space in the year in which the president (PT) is expected to seek re-election.
An ally of the vice-president of the Chamber, (PL-RJ), Rodrigo de Lemos Lopes was removed from the Vice-Presidency of Sustainability and Digital Citizenship, as announced by the bank in a statement to the market this Friday. In his place, Jean Rodrigues Benevides, executive director of Sustainability and Digital Citizenship, will take over on an interim basis.
José Trabulo Junior, consultant to the bank’s president, since September 25, 2024, was also removed from his position. He is an ally of the PP president, , . A native of Piauí, Trabulo was also a member of the Supervisory Board of Caixa Corretora, one of the bank’s subsidiaries, and was director of Conab (Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento) in the Bolsonaro government.
Government members say that other dismissals could occur in response to the MP’s loss of effectiveness. The government’s initial forecast was for the measure to take place in 2026, a forecast that had already fallen to R$17 billion with the changes made by the rapporteur in the Chamber, deputy Carlos Zarattini (PT-SP).
